MGB is one of the oldest German manufacturer of rigid endoscopes with an over 100 year old tradition. Our experience dates back to the year 1894 when the first ”modern” cystoscope was designed by Prof. M. Nietze and the medical manufacturers L.&H. Lowenstein. This company with headquarters in Berlin later became the company Georg Wolf GmbH, a manufacturer who developed a lot of medical instruments among them special telescopes for the endoscopic surgery.
After the second world war Georg Wolf GmbH became the state-owned company VEB MLW Medizinische Gerate Berlin that grew to be the market leader in Eastern European countries for endoscopes. The majority of its products were exported to this region. With the reunification of Germany the company was reprivatized and started to open up to new and innovative markets. Part of these efforts was the close co-operation with Carl Zeiss company from 1992 to 1995 during which a new generation of telescopes was developed. In April 1997 the endoscopic division of MLW was reorganized into MGB Endoskopische Gerate GmbH Berlin. |
